What is Locked in at the Lakes?

We are an Escape Room, which is a fun and challenging form of interactive entertainment. Our themed rooms are designed to provide an exciting, brain-busting experience that will get your adrenaline rushing, test your sleuthing skills, and generate fascinating dinner conversations! Once your entire group has arrived at our location, you will receive your mission and we will escort you to your room. Once inside, you and your team will have 60 minutes to find clues, solve puzzles and riddles, and ultimately attempt to escape from the room or complete your mission before the time runs out. Successfully completing this game requires communication, team work and creative thinking. In this technology-driven world, our experiences provide an "escape" from the screen, and offer our guests a tactile environment full of surprise and opportunity. Book a game. Try it out! Who are Escape Rooms designed for?  Our Escape Rooms are designed for anyone who enjoys trying new things, solving puzzles or mysteries and having fun! Escape Rooms are a great experience for groups of friends, date nights, family outings, fundraisers, youth groups, birthdays and corporate team building - just to name a few. Our experiences can even be creatively customized for gender reveals or other exciting announcements!  

Are we really locked in a room?  Symbolically, yes. In reality, no. For the safety of our guests, the door is not actually locked.  

Is there an age limit?  Our games are recommended for ages 16 and up, however we do allow minors aged 10-15 to play if accompanied by a participating parent or guardian.

Do I have to sign a waiver?  Yes, all players must sign our waiver prior to playing. The waiver will be sent with your booking confirmation, but if you would like to read it in advance, please use the following link:  WAIVER

Where are you located?  We are located at 463 Portage Lakes Drive in the Portage Lakes community of Akron, Ohio. Our location is less than 5 minutes from 77 and 224, and directly across the street from the clock tower. We are about 10 minutes from downtown Akron, for those of you planning to join us from out of town.  

Will other players be joining our game?  Nope! As long as the room minimum is met, you will enjoy a private experience. While it can be fun to escape with new friends, we realize that is not everyone's preference, so all bookings are private.

What should I bring?  You do not need to bring anything aside from your best problem solving skills! Everything you need to solve the puzzles is located within the room.

How long does it take?  From beginning to end, please allow for 60-90 minutes. You will have up to 1 hour to solve the game, however there is a brief introduction prior to entering the room, and a photo opportunity and optional debriefing following the game. 

How do I pay?  You have the option to pay with your credit or debit card when you make your reservation online. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express and PayPal. To inquire about alternative forms of payment or reservations, please contact us at info@lockedinohio.com

 

Do I have to make an appointment?  Yes, these are reservation based events and groups are booked in advance. To avoid disappointment, please check our booking schedule by clicking the "book now" link for the game you wish to play, or you may contact us directly to confirm any available openings. You may also inquire about reserving the room outside of our normal booking schedule if your desired time is not shown. For alternative times, please use info@lockedinohio.com.  

 

What if I am late?  Please have your entire group arrive by the time of your scheduled appointment. If you are late, this could affect the length of your playing time. Staying on schedule is important, and allows all of our guests to begin their games on time and keeps things running smoothly!

 

What is your cancellation policy?  To cancel your reservation, please do so at least 24 hours before your scheduled time for a full refund. Appointments cancelled less than 24 hours before their scheduled game will be charged a $30 cancellation fee. No-shows will be charged the full amount paid.  

How many people can play?  Our rooms are designed for  up to 8 players. However each of our rooms has a minimum number of players required per booking which must be met.

Do you offer games for corporate team building events or for private parties?  Of course! Our rooms are perfect for these types of events. For groups larger than 16, please contact us directly to work out the details. We are also a great venue for scouting and youth group events - and more recently, to make creative announcements such as gender reveals and other important news!  

What if I don't solve the puzzles in time?  Don't worry! The rooms are meant to be tricky. Our goal is to facilitate a unique and enjoyable experience that you will talk about for weeks to come. Not every team will solve that final puzzle. And that's ok! Playing the game is meant to be an experience in itself, and we can all but guarantee you will enjoy yourselves regardless of the final outcome!
